NAVIGATION
Evocate is a teamnesia-inspired game where relationship building and strengthening already existing bonds are just as important as fighting to keep your memories and figuring out just what the heck is going on in this strange world.
Please feel free to look at the information posted already and ask questions you're curious about on the FAQ! But most importantly, have some fun with some of the things that'll become normal to you in the Domed City.
Welcome to Domed City #77, a place you'll become very familiar with as it's now where you'll live out the rest of your days while waiting for the Evocated to drain you of your memories. Sounds great, right?
A: ARRIVAL
When you open your eyes, you find yourself laying in a bright white room, reminiscent of a hospital room. In fact, as you sit up and look around, you see other beds - hospital beds. Some made neatly, others a mess, and one that has a suspicious stain on it which is probably fine.
How did you get here? Where are you? All important questions you're likely asking yourself!
As you stand up, you feel something brush against your neck. You find a necklace with a small, round pendant attached to it. Turning it over reveals that your name has been etched into the other side. It's yours! Which is why, no matter what you try, you can't remove it.
Stepping out into the hallway reveals a myriad of different signs, all guiding you towards the exit. They're cheerful, written in crayon and with cute little doodles.
Through the glass doors you go, something beeping as you do, and you step out into the street of a small city.
There may be others stepping out with you at the same time too! Weird, right?
If you were injured - or dead - in some way at the point you're being taken from, then your wounds have been healed up to 50%.
B. THE HOTEL
At one point during the day, you all end up in the hotel lobby like you've been compelled to go there. A gentle compulsion, almost apologetic.
The hotel itself is old-fashioned with modern highlights, and it appears to have been renovated and set up for you and all of your new friends to live in! Isn't that great?
Once everyone has gathered, there's a loud crack of thunder and above you, a portal opens up and spits out a young woman. She lands with a yelp and whines, rubbing her hip.
![]()
You could have WARNED me!!
A pause. She lets out a little squeak and scrambles to her feet when she sees everyone.
![]()
oh geez they didn't say you were here already H-Hi! And welcome to Domed City #77! We um, we don't call it using the numbers but I would think people would want to know them anyway!![]()
Err, right, you probably want to know what's going on. Which is a really good question! The, er, people in charge gave me something to read to you that might answer it.
She clears her throat and takes on a more announcing tone of voice as she pulls a piece of paper from her pocket to read.
"Welcome and rejoice, little memoirs, for you have been given the honor of offering your memories to our great entity, the Evocated. We thank you for your sacrifi-" EH?!![]()
![]()
N-Now wait just a minute, this doesn't expl—
Another crack of thunder interrupts her and the portal returns, only this time it's underneath her. Her protests turn into a scream as she falls in, then cut off as the portal closes back up and innocently disappears.
Sometime between her appearance and disappearance, two more people have appeared behind the welcome desk. They appear to be working on . . . pamphlets? The teen girl gives you a cheerful little wave, like nothing weird just happened at all.
![]()
Welcome to Hotel - umm, it doesn't have a name yet, but we're working on it! And taking suggestions!
That woman will be back soon, so give it some time and she'll have more information with her.![]()
They seem pretty calm about it, so it must be fine!
The girl tells you that you're welcome to explore the hotel while you wait. Only the first floor is open for exploration right now, but there's plenty to see! And it does seem like it's been prepared for you, everything is clean and tidy, just as one would expect from a fancy-looking place like this.
The young man nods in agreement, then speaks up again.
< isopods >
You'll want to acquaint yourself with the main street too. But whatever you do, don't go further than the park up north.![]()
C. EXPLORATION
So, you decided to go further than the park up north.
It's like walking into a faint mist; but the air feels stale at first, like it's been still for a long time. The wind seems to follow you, pushing the stale air away from you and it sounds -
It almost sounds like someone is breathing out, a sigh that joins the wind ruffling your clothes.
North past the park are commercial buildings and factories, a once bustling business district. The supermarket is located here, stocked and ready to accept customers! Even if there isn't anyone to check you out. Hey, how are you gonna pay for that?
East from the park the city opens up into something more rural, meadows on either side of the road with flowers slowly blooming, as though your arrival has given them life. Further ahead is a forest . . . that does not look as welcoming as the flowers are. An uneasy feeling blooms in you the closer you get. You can't see too far in, but the flowers along the road here begin to wilt, like your presence alone is killing them. The flowering district can't seem to make up its mind whether to welcome or reject you.
West, the businesses thin out until you hit a set of apartment buildings on either side of the road. Further on, you start seeing houses and condos as you enter the residential district. None of the doors are open, but maybe you'll be lucky and find a window that might be unlocked . . . ?
But be careful; you were warned away from these parts for a reason.
D. WILDCARD
If you were foolish enough to run into what lurks out there, or you simply need healing because you came in a mess, then you have two options:
- One, you can reenter the hospital and search for supplies. More than one person can enter at once, so it seems like only your first exit is solo.
- Or two, you can figure out how to open the doors behind the welcome desk in the hotel. If you look bad the girl will gasp and point you there, but - well, how do you unlock the doors? You'll have to figure it out, but the girl offering to hold your hand might be a hint.
Or maybe you simply want to do something else entirely. Feel free to come up with your own prompts!
Some quick notes:
I'll start accepting applications on November 15, while the game is set to open up on November 28.

her left arm, up and across her face, anything to buy her a second to actually get her right hand on the leg of the table behind her. it's an awkward position as she's already half falling onto the table, but a good wrench has it coming around her body to crash into the side of his. ]

the moment disappears when a whole table is thrown into him. Dimitri staggers, losing his balance - if it weren't for his still bleeding wounds, the fact that he hasn't slept or eaten, maybe he could've stayed on his feet. but in this state, he grunts in pain as a knee gives out under him, a splatter of blood hitting the floor as the holes in his torso ooze.
he won't let go though. not now, when he's finally got her.]
no subject
there's no time to consider her next move; the table is hardly in any shape to be a table now, but at least a wooden leg can be a great weapon. ]
You have to be the most stubborn man I've ever met.
[ unlike her, of course. ]
no subject
he may be hobbled and she might still be on her feet, but they weren't going to be on uneven footing for long. it only took one vicious yank of her broken arm for Dimitri to pull her off her feet and smash her into the floor.]
I will not... fail them again...
no subject
Believe whatever—you want then!
[ he's completely lost it. there's a pang of sadness, but it's bubbling underneath the rabid pain.
she needs something sharp. she needs something sharp right now. the table leg in her hand, she smashes it downwards, cracking the end against the floor and then without a chance to see if it had splintered off enough, she's using all of her remaining strength to swing it towards him. ]

he drags Edelgard toward him, squeezing tight around her shattered wrist. it doesn't matter that he's growing sluggish. everything finally feels right. everything feels right. feels right. feels.
the dead are smiling. soon, their burden would be lifted. her agony was their salvation - and so seeing Edelgard's face wrenched in pain, even if it was a pained determination, made him smile. blind to all else, his other hand reaches over to grab her throat.]
Does a monster as loathsome as you still pray?
no subject
the edelgard that prayed has long since perished. that little girl, who hoped to those above her that she and her siblings be spared any further torment—one by one, as their lives were snuffed out, she realized that she was alone.
why pray to something that isn't going to answer? ]
I gave up on such folly when the prayers of my childhood went unanswered.
[ shoving the sharp end of the wooden leg into the nearest wound of his she can reach. ]
no subject
...hm. he squeezes her neck tighter.]
Good... I would hate for you to go to her side... when I have many deaths yet to give you.
no subject
You're—prince of delusions—
[ there's really not enough air to keep at that; even just stuttering out that acid has her lungs aflame.]
no subject
Come back to me soon, El.
[perhaps in her oxygen-starved brain, she can almost hear an echo of the past: we'll play again tomorrow!
at least, until he crushes her throat.]
no subject
no. she must... she must have misheard. she had to. she wanted to be called that so badly, so she pretended to hear this man speak it. it has... to be...
...
there's barely any time for her heart to ache. it's time to die.
and as much as she wants to continue glaring at him, dropping her grip on the one-time stake, beating weakly on his arm with both her mangled hand and her remaining one, it's only a moment before her eyes loll backwards and she slumps. a complete ragdoll, her head falling to the side.
💀 ]

his duty was done. he's... overjoyed? relieved? triumphant? free? yes, it should be one of these things.
so why did he feel like screaming? why does he want to double over and weep at the top of his lungs?
Dimitri is still trying to comprehend the contradiction as he slowly crumples to the floor, next to her, softly spasming. even as his vision starts to swim, he keeps the sight of her burned into his only eye. he can't look away. not even once he is drowned.]

As your bodies take their last breaths and your hearts beat one last time, you feel . . . warmth. It embraces you, surrounds you, and you've never felt safer or more cared for. Protected. Wanted.
The sound of a coin dropping shatters your peaceful end.
No no no no—! Not again, they're supposed to -
Silly child, remember your place.
You're slammed back into your bodies. As you gasp for air and your hearts race, it's as though someone has reversed time on you, albeit at a very slow pace. When your wounds have healed up enough for you to walk under your own power, it will stop and you will need to seek the help of others in order to heal the rest.
A cold, harsh laugh will echo through your mind for the rest of the day.
no subject
Back?
[without waiting for acknowledgement:]
Don't fight in the hotel.
[and with that, he stands up and heads back to the desk]

she comes to with a strangled noise, both hands coming to her throat.
blinking, up at the voice, and then—
using her heel on dimitri's forehead, she's pushing herself away from them both. ]
no subject
strange. it feels-- uncanny. like those times where he looks around and realizes he's lost a few hours, maybe a day, a week. covered in the blood of men he doesn't remember killing. how did he end up here?
he can feel his limbs. he can feel an awful pain in his chest. what was he doing? he doesn't recognize this place. doesn't recognize himself, but - well, that's been true for years. he does recognize her.
Get up.
it hurts. he's tired. but he obeys.]
no subject
[ this is a trick question there is only one answer and it better be no. ]
no subject
Not enough. Not nearly enough.
Nine years we have burned in this hell - she must pay in kind. For each new appointment to the ranks of the dead.
This is the only salvation for my daughter, now.
Dimitri nods to himself. yes, yes, yes.]
Happy?...
But I'm not finished yet.
no subject
think this through; killing him again would only buy her moments, and—he could just as easily kill her again. a cycled, repeated over and over until the person at the counter gets so mad that something worse happens.
she clicks her tongue against her teeth. she didn't like dying the first time. she didn't like dying the second time. it's rubbing raw, against her skin, and the prickling sensation she realizes is bubbling anger. ]
You are more than finished. Relish your single victory alone, Dimitri, as it will never come again.
no subject
Oh, but you've still yet to pay what's due!
[AND SO, PREDICTABLY, HE LUNGES AT HER AGAIN.]
no subject
It's the tiny teenaged girl]
Didn't you hear him? No fighting!!
no subject
RRGHH...!!
[acting purely on emotion and instinct, he tries to elbow the tiny teenaged girl in the face to force her to let go.]
no subject
Oww—!!
[with a sniffle the girl reaches up to touch her face. When she pulls her hand away, there's blood trickling from her nose]
. . .
[another loud sniffle]
. . . I said . . .
no subject
[she's suddenly right in his space, just hecking uppercutting him.
.roll 1d10, lower than 5 she misses and you have to contend with an angry teenager, higher than five you're getting comically knocked out, buddy]
